The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday reported 5,182 measles cases in the United States as of November 5, up 330 cases from the previous update, Reuters reported.

Nationwide hospitalizations linked to measles this year stood at 562, representing 11 percent of all reported cases, according to the CDC. The agency has reported four measles-associated deaths so far in 2026, compared with three deaths reported during all of 2025.

A total of 4,993 cases, or 96 percent of infections, were linked to outbreaks, and 43 outbreaks have been reported so far this year, the agency said.

The latest figures continue a year in which measles has spread through underimmunized communities, with nearly every case tied to an outbreak. Health officials urge vaccination with the MMR vaccine as the main protection against the highly contagious disease.
