Pixar Animation Studios is changing presidents for the first time in 12 years. After 21 years at Pixar, including 12 as president, Jim Morris will transition to the role of president emeritus. Jonathan Garson will succeed him as president, effective January 4, 2027.

Morris will remain involved in Pixar's slate, including 'Incredibles 3,' due out June 16, 2028, as well as talent development, mentorship and technology initiatives, 'continuing to shape the studio's creative culture and legacy.'

Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter retains oversight of the studio's films, and Jonas Rivera will step into an expanded executive vice president of creative role, leading filmmakers and development and working closely with both Docter and Garson.

As president, Garson will oversee all production and operations for Pixar, including its producers, department heads and post-production, partnering with Docter. Garson and Morris will both report to Alan Bergman, chairman of Disney Entertainment Studios, who announced the transition.

Morris joined Pixar in 2005 and has served as president for 12 years, with Pixar saying its feature films generated more than $12 billion at the global box office during his tenure. Pixar's upcoming slate includes 'Gatto' in March 2027, 'Ghost Market' in March 2028 and 'Incredibles 3' in June 2028.
