Olivia Colman's 'Wicker' has sprung a surprise at the box office. The film has now become the highest-grossing release in the history of studio Black Bear in North America, passing the domestic total of Jason Statham's 2026 release 'Shelter.'
Released on October 23, 'Wicker' opened on just 1,471 screens in its first week. On Discount Tuesday it earned $1.02 million, taking the No. 2 spot at the box office, a 9.3% increase over its collection on its first Tuesday.
The film has now reached a cumulative total of $15.19 million in North America. That puts it ahead of 'Shelter,' which had earned $12.8 million domestically and previously held Black Bear's record. 'Wicker' is the studio's first significant box office hit in the North American market.
Its second weekend proved particularly strong, contributing more than $4 million to the total. Beyond North America, the film has collected $3.29 million overseas, bringing its worldwide total to $18.4 million.
The comedy-drama, described as raunchy yet heartfelt, has won over audiences far beyond what its modest screen count suggested, and it has given Black Bear a domestic success to build on.
