Meta has acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup that allows users to spin up software projects by deploying multiple agents into parallel workspaces. The news was originally reported by Axios, and Conductor shared news of its acquisition on its blog. Meta confirmed the acquisition to TechCrunch but would not comment further or provide additional details about the deal.
“I have big news: Conductor is joining Meta,” wrote the startup's founder and CEO, Charlie Holtz, on Wednesday. “We have some big, crazy plans for the next interface,” he added, teasing that the company would have “something new” for customers to use by “early next year.”
Conductor, founded in 2024, only launched its core product last summer, in July 2025. Its platform orchestrates agents from Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode through a single interface, with cloud workspaces running on Vercel sandboxes and local sessions on users' Macs. The company came through Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch and raised a $22 million Series A in March 2026 from Spark and Matrix.
Holtz and CTO Jackson de Campos are joining Meta Superintelligence Labs, where they will work with Nat Friedman and Alexandr Wang, according to Axios. In August 2026, Meta introduced Muse Code, its own AI coding agent, as part of its wider Muse AI initiative.
The service is winding down fast for existing users. Conductor Cloud becomes read-only on November 13 and shuts down on November 20, after which the company will begin deleting user cloud data. Its core features will otherwise keep working as before until early next year, and the local Mac app will continue receiving support for new models and critical bug fixes until early 2027.
Conductor was not the only coding-agent deal of the day. On the same Wednesday, OpenAI announced its acquisition of Pierre Computer, another developer tools startup, after earlier picking up coding-agent shop Ona. Meta has not said what it paid, how many Conductor employees are joining, or exactly how the technology will be used inside Superintelligence Labs.
