Actress and model Kimmarie Johnson, best known for her appearance in the hit series Beverly Hills, 90210, has died at the age of 50.

Johnson died peacefully on Wednesday afternoon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, her niece Rhonda Scott told TMZ. Scott said Johnson suffered a heart-related emergency at her Los Angeles home on October 27 and was rushed to hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with a heart aneurysm condition. She spent more than a week in hospital before her death.

Johnson also appeared in the comedy Dude, Where's My Car? and worked as a model and beauty pageant titleholder. She won the Miss Pennsylvania USA pageant and represented the state at Miss USA.

In 2011, she launched her own skincare brand, SkinGlow by Kimmarie, and she was an executive producer on the film The Last Eve. Earlier this year she was honoured at the first annual Diversity News Magazine Awards, where she received Model of the Year and a Fashion Visionary Award.
