Target is recalling about 175,951 Gourmia air fryer ovens sold at its stores and website after dozens of shoppers suffered burns when the spring-loaded glass doors snapped shut on their hands, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday.
The recall, posted November 5 as CPSC recall number 27-069, covers the Gourmia Stainless Steel 9-Slice Digital Air Fryer Oven, model GTF7530, with UPC code 810002862779 and date codes 3021 through 0126. The ovens were sold at Target stores nationwide and on Target.com from October 2021 through June 2026 for about $150.
According to the commission, the oven's spring-loaded French doors can unexpectedly close when bumped while a consumer is retrieving hot food, posing a burn hazard. Gourmia received 57 reports of the doors closing unexpectedly, including 40 incidents in which consumers suffered burns to their hands or wrists.
The importer is The Steelstone Group LLC, doing business as Gourmia, of Brooklyn, New York. The remedy is a free repair kit containing a magnetic doorstop and installation instructions, expected to arrive by mail in two to four weeks.
The commission advises consumers to stop using the recalled oven immediately and contact Gourmia at 888-834-0092 or through gourmia.com/recall.asp to request the free kit. Owners can identify the affected model by the model number and date code printed on a label on the back of the unit.
