STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Henry County in which a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed, the agency said on November 4. No officers were injured.
Preliminary information indicates that on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at approximately 6:33 p.m., a Henry County Police Department officer saw two teenagers, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, in the parking lot of a Krispy Kreme located at 120 Highway 138 West in Stockbridge.
The 17-year-old then passed a handgun to the 16-year-old, and the 16-year-old ran away from the area with the gun, according to the GBI. The 16-year-old did not drop the gun, and the officer shot at the 16-year-old, hitting him.
The 16-year-old was pronounced deceased on the scene. A gun was recovered at the scene, the GBI said.
The investigation is active and ongoing. The GBI will conduct an independent investigation, and once it is complete, the case file will be turned over to the Henry County District Attorney's Office for review.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the GBI Atlanta Regional Investigative Office in Conyers at 770-388-5019, the agency said.
