FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A 17-year-old boy was arrested on November 2 in connection with a mass shooting at a Spirit Halloween store inside the Solano Town Center mall in Fairfield, California, that killed 31-year-old Constance Hages, who was pregnant, and wounded six other people.
The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026. Police said the shooting started from a targeted incident involving one suspect inside the store, after the teenager allegedly walked in and spotted another customer whom investigators believe he intended to target.
Hages, a mother of four, was pronounced dead at the scene. Six other people were injured: a 16-year-old boy and men aged 19, 19, 23, 32 and 43, who were taken to hospitals. As of November 2, a 19-year-old man remained in critical condition and three others remained hospitalized in stable condition.
The suspect was arrested on November 2 at his home in Suisun City, which borders Fairfield, after a SWAT operation, Fairfield Police Chief Dan Marshall said. His name has not been released because he is a juvenile. Police said the teenager had already been arrested in another shooting before the deadly attack, according to Fairfield police.
The Solano County District Attorney's Office announced on November 3 that the teenager is charged with two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault with a semiautomatic weapon and multiple gun enhancements, plus a multiple-murder special circumstance allegation. The office has asked a judge to move the case to adult court, a transfer that requires a judge's approval.
The office announced that the arraignment and detention hearing was scheduled for November 4 at 9 a.m. The FBI is assisting the ongoing investigation. A charge is an accusation, not a conviction, and the charged teenager is presumed innocent.
