Bryant Moreland, the former YouTuber known online as EDP445, was arrested in Henderson, Nevada, in the Las Vegas area on Wednesday after prosecutors in Kern County, California, filed four felony charges against him.
The Kern County District Attorney's Office filed the criminal complaint on Monday, November 2. The charges are attempted lewd acts upon a child under 14, meeting a minor for lewd purposes, contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense, and distributing or showing pornography to a minor.
Prosecutors say the charges stem from an alleged incident on April 17, 2021, in Bakersfield, California, involving a child under 14. The case traces to a sting operation in April 2021 in which an adult decoy posed as a 13-year-old girl.
The district attorney's office said the case was reopened after an extensive review of statements Moreland made in "The Sick Mind of EDP445," a documentary by filmmaker Mike Clum released on YouTube in August that included an interview with television presenter Chris Hansen.
Nevada police assisted with the arrest, and Moreland is being transported to Kern County, where an arraignment will be scheduled after extradition. He has not entered a plea, and the charges are allegations that have not been established in court.
If convicted on all four counts, Moreland could face up to eight years in prison.
