The Trump administration canceled a meeting on Friday of a White House technology panel that includes Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang and Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, an Energy Department spokesperson said.
The meeting was scheduled to convene the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, known as PCAST, an outside panel that advises President Donald Trump on science and technology policy. Its members also include AMD chief executive Lisa Su, Oracle chief technology officer Larry Ellison and Andreessen Horowitz co-founder Marc Andreessen. The council is co-chaired by venture capitalist David Sacks and White House technology adviser Michael Kratsios.
The panel was expected to advise the administration's new artificial intelligence task force, dubbed the "Super Intelligence Task Force," which includes cabinet officials, Trump appointees and White House staff.
An Energy Department spokesperson said the meeting was canceled due to scheduling constraints and would be rescheduled soon. The department's meeting website briefly listed November 13 as the new date for the meeting, but the agency later sent an email retracting that, leaving the session without a confirmed replacement date. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment about why the meeting was postponed.
The cancellation came a day after technology shares fell sharply, driven by mounting concern over artificial intelligence investment and the political environment for the sector after this week's midterm elections, in which Democrats won control of Congress.
