Back in 2012 the San Diego fireworks show known as “The Big Day Boom” discharged prematurely and simultaneously from all four barges and a pier. The show was intended to be 17-minute display but only lasted 30 seconds. The misfire was later attributed to a corrupted computer file. There were no injuries reported and while this was a catastrophic failure of a highly choreographed and expensive firework show, it was also one of the most glorious 30 seconds in Independence Day history.
