Rudy Giuliani, former New York City mayor and personal attorney to President-elect Donald Trump, is set to testify as the first witness in a non-jury civil trial in Manhattan federal court. The trial will determine whether he must turn over his Palm Beach, Florida condominium and three New York Yankees World Series rings to satisfy a $146 million defamation judgment awarded to two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Wandrea ‘Shaye’ Moss.
The judgment stems from Giuliani’s false accusations that the workers committed election fraud during the 2020 presidential election. Giuliani has already surrendered other assets, including a New York apartment and a Mercedes, but he claims the Palm Beach condo as his permanent residence and asserts that he gifted the World Series rings to his son, Andrew Giuliani, in 2018. The trial follows recent contempt findings against Giuliani for failing to comply with court orders related to the case.
