A plane carrying multiple passengers went down Sunday in Coffee County, Tennessee, roughly 60 miles southeast of Nashville, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Preliminary reports indicate there were between 16 and 20 individuals on board at the time of the crash. Several passengers were airlifted to area hospitals, while others received medical attention on site, the highway patrol shared in a social media update.
Despite the severity of the crash, no deaths have been reported. Some individuals sustained minor injuries, confirmed Lyle Russell, a spokesperson for the City of Tullahoma, where the incident took place.
Footage released by highway patrol authorities shows significant damage to the aircraft, including a detached tail section. The crash site, located at Tullahoma Regional Airport, has been cordoned off with caution tape as officials continue their investigation.
“The accident occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 8,” said Russell in a statement to CNN. “Local responders are securing the site, and FAA investigators are en route.”
Early findings suggest the aircraft involved may have been a skydiving plane, according to law enforcement sources. The investigation remains ongoing.
