President Donald Trump sharply criticized The New York Times after the outlet suggested he may be slowing down due to age and a demanding schedule.
In a series of fiery remarks, Trump insisted he remains in peak condition and dismissed the report as politically motivated.Trump said there may come a time when his energy dips — a reality for everyone — but stressed that day is not today. He pointed to his recent physical exam and cognitive test, both of which he said he “aced,” as proof he is performing at full strength.
Calling the newspaper “failing” and its reporters “creeps,” Trump argued that covering rallies, meetings, and presidential duties requires significant stamina — and he’s currently working harder than ever. Despite this, he said, the Times published what he calls a “hit piece” claiming he is losing steam, a narrative he believes is completely false.
He accused the Times and its reporters of consistently crafting negative stories about him, including past coverage of elections and national issues. Trump went so far as to label the outlet an “enemy of the people,” singling out reporter Katie Rogers as someone he believes is committed to portraying him negatively.
Trump added that, contrary to the paper’s claims, his poll numbers are the highest they’ve ever been, and he argued that record investments flowing into the U.S. should push his support even higher.
