The family of renowned Gospel singer-songwriter Richard Smallwood has announced his passing, just a month after he turned 77.

A statement posted to his Facebook page on Dec 30 said,

“We are saddened to announce the passing of world-renowned artist, songwriter, and musician, Richard Smallwood. The family asks that you respect our privacy during this difficult time, while helping to celebrate the legacy he leaves behind.”

Smallwood, an 8-time GRAMMY nominee and multi-time Dove & Stellar Award winner, gifted Gospel fans 50 years of classics like “Center of My Joy” and “Total Praise.” He released 10 studio albums, collaborating with giants of the genre.
