Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is turning her frustration inward — saying she “blames” her own party for failing to address the long-standing issues with the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare. Read More
During an appearance on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday, Greene criticized fellow Republicans for not doing enough to “correct” the healthcare law despite years of campaign promises to repeal or replace it.
“I blame my own party,” Greene said. “Republicans have had opportunities to fix the problems with Obamacare, but we haven’t done it.”
The Georgia congresswoman went on to share how the law has impacted her own family, saying that rising healthcare costs have become “a financial burden” for many Americans, including herself.
“We’ve had to pay more for less coverage, and that’s not what healthcare reform was supposed to look like,” she explained.
Greene’s comments highlight growing frustration among conservatives who feel the GOP has failed to deliver on one of its core pledges from the past decade. Despite repeated promises to repeal Obamacare since its passage in 2010, Republican lawmakers have struggled to unite around an alternative plan.
Political analysts noted that Greene’s remarks reflect a broader divide within the Republican Party — between those who want to overhaul the healthcare system and those focused on avoiding another political battle that could alienate moderate voters.
Her appearance on Real Time also drew attention for its unexpectedly candid tone. While Greene is known for her fiery rhetoric, Friday’s discussion showed a more reflective side as she acknowledged both policy and political failures within her own ranks.
