Portland Police Arrest Conservative Journalist Nick Sortor Amid Chaotic Anti-ICE Protests

Conservative journalist Nick Sortor was arrested in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday night during another round of protests outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility. Video circulating online shows Sortor being taken into custody as tensions escalated between demonstrators, counter-protesters, and law enforcement.

The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) said its officers were monitoring the protest when they witnessed multiple scuffles. According to PPB, at about 8:09 p.m., Dialogue Officers observed two men fighting near the ICE facility driveway. Additional officers were called in as the altercation ended when one participant was knocked to the ground. Police noted the individual was not seriously injured, did not lose consciousness, and declined medical assistance.

Both men involved in the fight, including Sortor, were detained by federal law enforcement before being released. Authorities said neither party chose to file a police report.

Katie Daviscourt, a reporter with The Post Millennial, claimed on X that Sortor had been targeted by Antifa members shortly before his arrest, describing the police action as part of a series of “targeted arrests” announced after earlier clashes.

The incident marks yet another night of unrest in Portland as protesters continue to gather outside ICE facilities, with demonstrations often devolving into violent confrontations.
