New Labor Rule Under Trump Blocks Illegals from Job Training Programs

Protecting U.S. Jobs and Tax Dollars from Misuse

New Labor Rule Under Trump, The Trump Administration has rolled out powerful new rules to block illegal aliens from accessing taxpayer-funded workforce programs. In a press release Thursday, the Department of Labor made it clear: only individuals with verified work authorization can benefit from federally supported career training and employment services.

Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer said the rule protects good-paying American jobs and upholds the rule of law.

Federal Workforce Grants Now Require Legal Status

Under the new guidance, all workforce programs funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act must verify documentation before service delivery. That includes:

  • Job placement assistance

  • Vocational training

  • Skills development grants

This policy change ensures employers can partner with confidence, knowing their recruits are both skilled and legally employable.

Ending Loopholes That Encourage Illegal Immigration

The Labor Department noted that the Biden Administration’s previous guidance failed to verify legal status, which effectively encouraged illegal immigration. By restoring verification, the Trump Administration is closing that loophole.

“This ensures benefits serve Americans—not those who broke our laws to get here,” Chavez-DeRemer emphasized.

Illegal Aliens Barred from Unemployment Benefits

The Department also reminded states that federal law prohibits unemployment benefits for those in the country illegally. Chavez-DeRemer warned that states violating this rule risk losing funding.

“Unemployment benefits are not available to those ineligible to work. That’s the law,” she said.

A Win for American Workers and the Rule of Law

President Trump’s workforce policy reforms are yet another example of America First in action. These efforts prevent abuse of federal funds, ensure only legal workers benefit, and reaffirm the country’s commitment to secure borders.

The bottom line is simple: no more free rides for illegal immigrants—not under President Trump.
