CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – Illinois Governor JB Pritzker sharply questioned former President Donald Trump’s mental fitness on Tuesday, urging that the 25th Amendment be invoked to remove him from office.
The remarks came after Trump, speaking at a high-level military meeting in Virginia, suggested that “crime-ridden cities” like Chicago could serve as training grounds for National Guard troops.
Pritzker blasted the idea as dangerous and irrational. “It appears that Donald Trump not only has dementia set in, but he’s copying tactics of Vladimir Putin,” Pritzker said in a clip posted by The Heartland Signal. “Sending troops into cities, thinking that’s some sort of proving ground for war, or that there’s some internal war in the United States, is just frankly inane — and I’m concerned for his health.”
At the same press conference, Pritzker doubled down, declaring: “There is something genuinely wrong with this man, and the 25th Amendment ought to be invoked.” His remarks were also captured on video by Forbes Breaking News.
Trump has not yet directly responded to Pritzker’s comments, though his suggestion about deploying the National Guard has already drawn strong reactions from state leaders and civil rights groups.
