Georgia manual vote count ruling, Citing worries about “administrative chaos,” a Georgian judge has denied an order to manually count ballots in the next presidential election in November. According to Judge Robert McBurney‘s ruling, the delayed implementation of the regulation would have eroded public confidence in the election outcome, and poll workers would not have had the training to manage millions of ballots.

A pro-Trump majority on Georgia’s election board approved the hand-count mandate, which obliged poll workers in more than 6,500 precincts to open boxes containing machine-scanned ballots and manually confirm counts. Opponents contended that this might have impeded or postponed the election results’ confirmation.

In his decision, Judge McBurney emphasized the possibility of chaos and unpredictability, especially in a highly charged setting still affected by the events of the Capitol bombing on January 6. He claimed that the public’s confidence in the voting process would be damaged by such actions.

Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, whose campaign interpreted the rule as an attempt to undermine the credibility of the voting process, applauded the decision. More than 328,000 Georgians cast ballots on the first day of early voting, which is twice as many as did so during the same period in 2020.

At a rally in Atlanta, former President Donald Trump urged fans to secure a victory that was “too big to rig,” alluding to his unverified allegations that the 2020 election was rigged. Vice President Harris persisted in reaching out to Black voters, encouraging them to remain involved in politics despite polls indicating that Trump is gaining ground with this group.

This decision is made as other election-related cases are pending in Georgia, one of the crucial swing states that is anticipated to be very important in the Trump vs. Harris presidential fight.
