California Gov. Gavin Newsom kept up his online jabs at President Donald Trump after a clip went viral of Trump calling a reporter “piggy.”
During a press gaggle on Friday, Trump told veteran journalist Catherine Lucey, “Quiet. Quiet, piggy,” a remark that quickly spread across social media. Not long after, Newsom’s official press office X account began posting a string of AI-generated images mocking the president.
The first post showed Trump in a gold-covered Oval Office, edited to look like a pig proudly holding up a lavish renovation plan filled with gaudy golden décor. More images followed, including one that swapped Trump’s body with that of a pig, further playing into the theme.

Another post referenced Trump’s obsession with media attention, featuring a fake Time Magazine cover with Trump again portrayed using the pig motif. Newsom’s team then capped off the series with an unedited photo of Trump alongside Jeffrey Epstein, captioned simply “piggies,” a nod to the ongoing fight over the release of Epstein-related files.

The White House weighed in on Wednesday, defending Trump’s original exchange with the reporter. In a formal statement, officials said the journalist had acted “in an inappropriate and unprofessional way” toward other reporters on the plane, adding, “If you’re going to give it, you have to be able to take it.”
