Deadly Terror Attack at Jerusalem’s Ramot Junction Leaves Five Dead, Several Injured

A tragic terrorist attack struck Jerusalem on Monday morning when two Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a crowded bus stop in Ramot Junction, one of the city’s busiest northern entrances. The assailants targeted passengers waiting for buses and those already aboard, unleashing chaos in the middle of rush hour. Read More

According to Israeli authorities, at least five civilians were killed in the attack. The victims included men in their 30s and 50s, as well as a woman in her 50s. Between 11 and 15 others were injured, with several reported to be in critical condition. Emergency responders rushed to the scene to provide urgent medical care, while survivors described moments of sheer panic as bullets shattered bus windows and sent commuters scrambling for safety.

The swift actions of a soldier and an armed civilian prevented further bloodshed. Both gunmen were shot dead at the scene, and security forces later recovered firearms, ammunition, and a knife from their bodies. Reports indicate the attackers used improvised submachine guns, commonly referred to as “Carlo” weapons, which are often produced in makeshift workshops in the West Bank.

In the immediate aftermath, Israeli forces tightened security across Jerusalem and nearby West Bank areas. Checkpoints were sealed, raids were carried out in neighboring villages, and a broad investigation was launched to determine whether the attackers had accomplices or links to militant groups.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who visited the attack site, strongly condemned the assault and vowed a firm response. “Israel will strike back with full force against those who seek to harm our citizens,” he said during an emergency security briefing. The attack comes amid a period of heightened regional tensions, further fueling fears of a wider escalation.

Militant groups, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad, praised the shooting, framing it as retaliation against Israeli actions in the occupied territories. While they stopped short of claiming direct responsibility, their statements have intensified concerns of additional violence in the coming days.

The Ramot Junction attack marks one of the deadliest shootings in Jerusalem in recent years, underscoring the fragile security situation and the deepening cycle of violence between Israelis and Palestinians. As Israel increases its security presence, the city remains on high alert.
