Biden Accuses Trump Family of Profiting from the Presidency

Former President Joe Biden took aim at President Donald Trump this week, accusing the Trump family of profiting heavily since Trump returned to the White House. Speaking at a Democratic event in Omaha, Nebraska, Biden questioned how Americans would react if any other president’s family made that kind of money while in office.

“Has anyone noticed how much the Trump family has made while he’s been president?” Biden asked the crowd. “Can you imagine if any other president in American history did that?” Read More

Biden argued that ordinary Americans are being left behind while wealthy families and political elites continue to benefit. He said people are “struggling to pay their bills” while the Trump family’s business empire appears to be thriving. “You work for us, Mr. President,” Biden added. “We don’t work for you — or for billionaires and millionaires.”

His remarks come as new reports suggest that the Trump family’s fortune has grown significantly during Trump’s current term. A report from the Center for American Progress claims the Trump family has received more than $1.8 billion in cash, gifts, and business deals since Trump’s 2024 reelection. Much of this growth reportedly stems from investments, real estate deals, and cryptocurrency ventures tied to Trump-associated entities.

An investigation by Australia’s ABC News program Four Corners also raised concerns about possible conflicts of interest between Trump’s presidential duties and his family’s expanding business operations. Ethics watchdogs say the overlap between political power and private profit has never been so visible in modern American politics.

The Trump administration has dismissed these allegations, calling them politically motivated attacks. Officials insist that President Trump and his family have followed all legal and ethical rules, claiming their business success is unrelated to government influence.

Still, Biden’s comments have reignited debate over whether presidents should be required to separate their personal finances from public office. Historically, most presidents have used blind trusts or divested from private holdings to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest. Trump, however, has continued to maintain a significant connection to his family’s businesses, fueling ongoing criticism.

Biden’s speech struck a populist tone, arguing that Trump’s presidency has favored the ultra-wealthy over working Americans. “This is supposed to be a government for the people,” Biden said. “Not a family business.”

As the 2026 midterms approach, Biden and other Democrats appear eager to make ethics and fairness central issues in their campaign messaging — contrasting Trump’s wealth-driven image with their promise to “put working families first.”
