A 20-year-old US Army soldier, Cameron John Wagenius, has been arrested for allegedly hacking into phone records of high-profile individuals, including former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. Wagenius, a communications specialist, used the alias “Kiberphant0m” to boast about breaching multiple telecommunications companies.
The soldier has been charged with unlawfully transferring confidential phone records, which he allegedly sold or shared without authorization. The hacking incident is part of a larger investigation into a scheme that compromised numerous organizations’ online systems and accessed vast amounts of sensitive customer data.
Wagenius’ arrest highlights the growing threat of cybersecurity breaches and the importance of protecting sensitive information. His mother expressed surprise and shock at her son’s alleged involvement in the hacking scheme, stating she had no knowledge of his activities.
